These pants fit like they are a second skin that was made for you, and they are cut so that you have absolutely free movement without ever noticing the pants or having to adjust them. They have a three dimensional feeling so they stay away from you instead of clinging to your knee or thigh. They are roomy, but they don't feel baggy. Even the waist and drawstring feel more comfortable, I am not certain why that is.
I have tried every brand of karategi searching for the same fit and quality of the original 1950-60s karategi designs, like the gi my father wore when I was growing up. I don't know why pants changed over the years, but decades of rolling them up or pulling the legs up so they don't bind on your knees when you kick drove my search to find karategi like my father's. While all the Japanese brands make very high quality, comfortable karategi, and the rolling up and pulling up stopped - it still wasn't the same. My father's gi had an unmistakable feeling like they aren't there. These pants immediately gave me that feeling. Not only are these pants similar to the original designs, they are the original designs, made by the same company and some of the same people! The brand name changed over the years, but this is exactly what my father wore. A clearly improved version - but it feels exactly the same.
