The cut of this karategi is absolutely 3 dimensional and feels fantastic! The shoulders and arms move independently of the rest of the gi so it doesn't pull out of your belt, or bunch up in the chest. When you move your arms, only your arms move, not the entire gi. It feels like it was custom tailored for me, and the sleeves are exactly the right length. This gi is cut exactly the same as the traditional karategi of the 1950s and 60s and the fabric feels very soft and strong.
As a child I learned Karate from my father, and he wore karategi made in Japan in the 1960s. I spent my life searching for those same gi. To me, traditional Karate means the 1950s-60s and a traditional karategi should match the cut, quality, comfort, and durability of the karategi available during that period. This karategi not only matches the traditional ones of the 1960s, it is manufactured by the exact same company to the exact same extremely high standards. They were manufactured under a different brand name when my father wore it, so I didn't discover these karategi until now. But this is the same gi my father wore made by some of the same people. And the option of the chest string is amazing - that is another feature my father's original had. I will be buying more of these - I have tried every high quality Japanese manufacturer trying to match or surpass, but this is still the best ever made!
I do wish there was a way to make them in dark blue like my father's, or at least white though...
